What We Do

Turning insight into action...

When people ask me what I do for work I tell them any number of things. I'm an ethnographer, a design researcher, an artist. I work for technology companies and do research to gain insights that lead to new ways of thinking and creating interactive programs, processes, services and products. I do this by planning and managing qualitative research projects designed to understand people, how people work and work together and the things people create and use in their everyday lives. Data is analyzed and interpreted from an ethnograhic perspective, from different perspectives, perspectives of "others." I am a pioneer, always looking for what is next, what's new and I share my knowledge to help others experience this "edge" and develop their own insights into the future of computing, design and interactive products.

But how do you turn insight into action? You do this by being a good project manager. You weave research findings into business strategies and product plans. You motivate teams to work toward common goals that they can see, understand and approach from their own disciplines, backgrounds and experience. Creative projects give form to creative ideas; ideas are externalized and objectified. When ideas are objectified they are made available for manipulation, touching, transforming and they can be shaped in different ways by different people at different times. This is one process through which people, culture and creative objects co-develop over time.

If you are tasked to keep your innovation pipeline stocked with well researched opportunities or if you are tasked to identify and fix user experience issues with current or emerging products, programs or processes, we can plan and implement the research projects that will help you succeed. If you and your teams can use outside help to transform vague ideas into creative projects and outcomes, call Cynthia. If she can't help you, she probably knows someone who can. 503-740-1863
